From school focus to reading levels – the arts can help

To see a child thriving is a special moment for any parent – especially in the face of challenges.“I had to cancel [other] classes because of conflict with other kids,” says one Arts Umbrella parent, whose son has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). At Arts Umbrella, he “has been able to find his focus. He has found something he’s good at and enjoys, but he can respect other people doing it.”“It’s been a real breakthrough.”The parent credits Arts Umbrella’s supportive environment, one that allows all students to succeed in the class, with helping her son. The family’s experience reiterates many studies that show arts education is critical for kids, nurturing creativity and growing self-confidence.“The focus in school has improved since [he] began Arts Umbrella classes,” says the parent. “He is no longer frustrated with school. He is caught up in reading.”At Arts Umbrella, we believe in inspiring young minds through our Theatre, Visual Arts, and Dance programs – so all kids can go on to achieve great things.Arts Umbrella: www.artsumbrella.com
